Goodbye Cute Girl Clothing

I promised myself that if I was having a boy - I would get down to business and go through all Maddie's old clothing and get it ready for the consignment sale that starts next week. After all -I guess I won't be using girl clothing anymore since we are only having 2 kids.

I spent hours last night going through each bin and organizing all her clothing into summer vs. winter clothing and tagging it for the big sale. In the process I found a bunch of gender neutral stuff and that went in another bin for Baby Boy Graber.

Anyway - doing all of this made me very sad. Maddie had the most adorable clothing and I forgot how cute her little rompers were. As I uncovered each dress, each romper, each onesie, I felt like I was having a clothing funeral. I thought for sure that I would have another little girl and she would be wearing all of this clothing. So - why not keep it? Well - I told you that I was nesting. I personally need it out of my basement. What is the point of having it sit in bins taking up space?

Anyway - doing this made me realize that this boy/girl thing is slightly annoying. The boy can't wear her old winter jackets or snowsuits or boots. The boy can't use her crib bedding that was sage green and patchwork. Although it is kind of unisex - it is kind of geared more towards girls. The boy will need new toys that are more boyish instead of Maddie's girl toys. The practicalness of having 2 different sexes just doesn't jive. It doesn't match up. Boys and girls need different things.

And let's face it. Boy clothing isn't nearly as cute as girl clothing. It is just a fact. Sorry folks. Just my opinion. But girl clothing wins the award.

The fall/winter girl clothing is already tagged and set for the consignment sale. The spring/summer clothing will go in March when the next consignment sale rolls around.

So - this is a tribute to Maddie's cute clothing. Good-bye clothing. May you make another little girl happy and as cute as my daughter was when she wore it.
