I love the Consignment Sale. Not only do I get to sell things that I no longer need - but I buy new things. I feel like I am doing my bit of recycling. Some of the things are hardly used. Some have tags on them. Of course I love to get Maddie new clothing. But - how could I turn down a LL Bean jumper that was priced at $2? And what about the Ralph Lauren jumper priced at $2.50?
And then there is the cute baby pod/bumbo that I got for Baby Boy Graber at $10. Those things are normally priced at $40.
I spent $110 this year at the sale. And I got Maddie ALL of her clothing for fall and winter. Jumpers, dresses, a snow suit, a winter coat, some cords, and sweaters. And all the stuff is practially in perfect condition. She now has more clothing than I know what to do with.
I get a rush out of finding a bargain. I get more of a rush from selling things I no longer need. Today I go and pick up my items that didn't end up selling. I consigned 62 items and I sold 40 items and made $140. You can't beat that. Of course the person who runs the consignment sale gets 30% of my money. So - basically I just made back what I spent at the sale. I think of it is a trade-off.
The next consignment sale is in March. That one is my favorite. There is something about summer clothing that is so fun.
Anyway - the consignment sale is addicting. Stacey started doing it first and then Janis and I started and then we got Felice to do it. She was a newbie this time around. Our friend Allison shops the sale - but she is not a consigner yet. (If you consign, you can shop before the general public.) There is something about going on a mission, trying to find the best clothing for the best deal. You just can't beat that. Consign away, my friends. Consign away. And then shop to your heart's content!
