I was sitting in the rocking recliner this morning and rocking Aidan. Maddie decided she wanted to snuggle too. So- I had both my kids rocking with me in the recliner. It was very sweet.
As we were rocking, Maddie said, "I like being with my mommy and my Aidan and my daddy. You are my family. And Gracie too!"
I said, "That is absolutely right. We are a family. Do you love your brother?"
She said, "Yes. I love Aidan so much."
I am proud to say that we haven't had any jealousy issues going on with our new addition to our family. Maddie has been a little mommy and dotes on him and kisses him and hugs him and is always happy to see him. She gets very excited when he wakes up and she seems concerned when he is fussy. I can almost fast forward 25 years and picture her as a mommy to her own kids. It makes me wonder why I had any concerns at all about having a second child. I realize now how great it has been for Maddie.
Anyway - so far it has been smooth sailing. I keep waiting for the jealousy monster to kick in. I am sure it will at some point. Until then, I am enjoyng watching Maddie be a fantastic big sister.

There will be fights and squabbles down the road, I'm sure. But I'm glad it's going so well! There is nothing like watching the love of siblings. It's almost indescribable. It fills me with such happiness and joy... I keep having more babies. ;-)
