I grew up watching Siena basketball. Literally. I went to every home game when I was in high school. My dad is an alum - so our family has a speical love for Siena basketball.
At each game, I would stand by the door that the players came in and out and get their autographs. Yup. I did that. Every single game. For those of you who are Siena fans - I am going to throw out a few names that you might know. Matt Brady, Bruce Schroeder, and Marc Brown.
I especially had a love for Marc Brown. It's safe to say that I had a major crush on him. Yup. I did. I am not ashamed to admit it. I have numerous items that were autographed by Marc. I had him sign T-shirts, basketballs, paper, anything really. It was kind of pathetic. My dad took me to every one of those games and I was allowed to bring a friend. I usually brought my friend Jen since she was a huge basketball fan. The two of us giggled our way through the games, cheered Siena on and made lots of memories. During these years, Siena played in what was known as the ARC. I am not sure if they even play there anymore. I think they might play all their games at the Times Union Center. Not sure about that. Anyway, I digress.
Watching the game tonight brought back memories. I get such a rush out of cheering for my favorite team. They did us proud tonight. Even if they didn't win. As Brian says, "Siena has heart." That they do. The little small college from Loudonville did us proud. Go Siena! We love you!
I would like to extend a special thanks to my dad for bringing me to all those games when I was a kid. It meant a lot to me and I will never forget it!
