I got in a fight with a parent outside of Maddie's school today. It's a long story. But basically he told me that I was lazy because I was parking in front of the "No Parking" sign in front of Maddie's building.
I know. I know. I probably shouldn't park there. However, the main reason it says "No Parking" is because the buses pull up there. So - in my defense - we are long gone by the time any bus arrives. (The buses come about 15 minutes after the pre-k is dismissed. And - I am not the only one who parks there. Cars are lined up in front of those signs. I should mention that I did this last year and it was never ONCE an issue. I run in, collect Maddie and run back out. I am literally in there for 2 minutes. Maybe less. And - if there were buses - I wouldn't do it. I would just park somewhere else. But the buses aren't there yet - so it's fine.
Anyway - this guy was making a scene. He was picking up the "No Parking" signs and slamming them on the concrete. Then he was pointing at them to all the people who were parked in front of them. I was sitting in my car and my blood started boiling. I don't like a scene. However, this guy was really making me mad. So - I finally got out of my car and he looked at me and shook his head. I looked back at him as if to say, "Yeah? What's the matter buddy?" Then - he said that all of us were lazy and that we shouldn't be parking there and that we couldn't even walk 1/2 a block. Meanwhile, one of the other people who was parked in front of the signs is about 9 months pregnant. So - the guy is calling the pregnant lady - lazy??? UGH! I was madder than mad.
I should have kept my mouth shut. But I couldn't. I told him that it was really none of his business where I parked and that he really shouldn't concern himself with it.
He kept yapping away and it finally ended with some profanity. (Him using it - not me!) He used some violent language and another parent had to tell him to chill out and calm down. I told him that he should be ashamed of himself using that language in front of a school where we were picking up our 3 and 4 year olds.
He said that he could say a lot worse if he wanted to. Wow. What a guy.
At that point, the door was unlocked so we could go and get the kids and wouldn't you know - that this stellar man's daughter is in Maddie's class.
Super duper.
The pregnant lady (who I think works for the school) went in the classroom and told one of the teachers what happened. All-in-all- it was very eventful. But - not something I would like to re-live.
