Christmas Music

It's all about Christmas music over here in the Graber household. I guess it started the week before Thanksgiving. It's like a switch is flipped. Brian is a huge fan of Christmas music and it is on all the time in our house.

It's on in the car on 98.3 and 100.9.

It's on at home on the TV on channel 1262.

It's on basically 24/7 - everywhere I go!

I am fine with that. I like Christmas music. However - what I don't like is overplayed Christmas songs. You know. The kind that are on all the time. At least 10 times a day. To name a few:
  • Holly Jolly Christmas
  • Grandma Got Run over by a Reindeer - Just wrong, wrong, and wrong - on so many levels.
  • Last Christmas (By Wham) - So 80's and so very annoying.
  • Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree - ICK! I hate this song. I change the channel when it comes on.
  • Feliz Navidad
  • I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus - The tone of voice in this song makes me want to run off a cliff. Very, very annoying.
  • Frosty the Snowman
  • Happy Christmas (War is Over) - Nice song - but definitely overplayed.

That being said, I have a list of some GREAT songs that should be played MORE often. For instance:

  • God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by Sarah McLachlan and the Bare Naked Ladies
  • Canon in D - Transiberian Orchestra
  • O Holy Night - any version is great if the person can sing.
  • Any song by Bing - can we say classic, classic and more classic.

Don't think of me as a scrooge. I just like to hear some good Christmas music. Why do we have to hear the same ones over and over and over?

Happy Wednesday everyone.
