I received Maddie's kindergarten registration info in the mail yesterday. I can't believe it's that time. My little girl will be going off to kindergarten in 9 months! Wowsers. It never seemed like this day would come - but yet it's upon us already!
I eagerly reviewed the registration forms and started filling them out. Talk about paperwork. There are forms for bus routes, forms for proof of residency, forms, forms, and more forms! In addition, we need to bring her original birth certificate and her social security card on registration day. Then of course, I need her immunization forms and proof of her last physical.
In addition, Brian and I are having a debate about the school bus. He wants to drive Maddie to school everyday. Maddie wants to take the bus. Brian thinks there is no reason for her to take the bus when we live so close to school that he can just drop her off. I personally think she should take the bus. After all, that's why we pay taxes. Plus - it's just easier and more convenient - and Maddie wants to take the bus. So - let her take the bus - right??
You are not going to get any sympathy from me about taking the bus. I grew up having to take TWO buses to school. I lived through it. And Maddie will too. I get it that the bus can be a place where bad things happen. You know - swear words, sassy talk, back-talk, etc.
But -taking the bus is a rite of passage. It's part of the kindergarten experience!
Anyway - I guess we have 9 months to figure out the bus issue. In the meantime, I will fill out the forms and start the mental preparation of sending my baby off to kindergarten!
