The let down and 25 states

I didn't want to believe that I would feel let down after the half marathon. In fact, I thought that I would feel happy and relieved. Don't get me wrong. I am happy and relieved. And elated and excited. It's just that I feel a little bit confused. Like - what's next? What do I do now? Where do I turn? Do I train for a full marathon? Do I become a half-marathon addict? Do I train harder for a 5K so I can become super speedy? So many options!

I think I narrowed it down. The obvious answer is - to run another half! And to train hard for the Freihofer's 5K in June. (On a side note - I would love to run Freihofer's in 26 minutes.) Anyway - Janis, Felice and I have been researching races, and we came across a web site called Half2Run.com

Basically the idea is that you run 25 half marathons in 25 states. Pretty cool - huh? And since I ran my first one last week in New York - I already have one under my belt. Wow. Only 24 to go! So now it's on to the next state. Right now we are looking at Manchester, NH in early November. It's close enough to drive there for one night and it seems like a fairly easy course. And the date is perfect for everything else that we have going on in the Fall. I love having a plan. And I love the idea of visiting 25 states. I think we should be able to knock out the states in the Northeast with no problem.

Think about it. All within driving distance - there is Maine, NH, CT, NY, RI, Maine, MA, PA, VT, NH, NJ. That's 10 right there. Easy!

So that leaves 15 more. I am already dreaming about running a half marathon in Miami, San Diego, Houston, Seattle and Portland. Mmmm. This could be fun thinking about all the fun places to go.

Anyway - it's good to have a plan. And in the meantime, I am going to enjoy some easy short runs and work on my speed. And that's my plan. And that's that.
