Training and the heat

It has been a rough training week. Can you guess why?

Yeah. Maybe because it's like 100 degrees outside with 100% humidity. Yup. I have pretty much decided that I would rather run in the zero degree weather. At least I can bundle up when it's cold.

That being said, I managed to run four times this week for a total of about 15 miles. (I had 17 scheduled - so I don't feel bad about being 2 miles short). I am skipping my long run this weekend since I will be in DC until Monday. I don't feel bad though since I had a great 10 miler last weekend. I am just labeling this as my cut-back week.

This morning was the worst run of them all. I met Elisa and Karen at 6:30 AM at the Corning Preserve Bike Path. I thought it would be smart to run that early. It didn't even matter. It was already 85 degrees and I felt like I was running through soup. It was terrible. I had high hopes to get 5 miles in. Nope. I barely squeaked out 3. It was just too hot and too humid and we called it a run.

Meanwhile, our grass is all but dead. My flowers are getting all grainy looking and droopy - no matter how much I water them. It's just hot.

Have a great weekend!

It was wicked hot yesterday morning. We (the group I'm training with) started at 6 and I'm happy that I took it nice and slow. Even so, we were all soaked by the time we were done. Stay cool!!
