Hostas!

We all know that Brian is doing a great job with the landscaping. He took complete ownwership of it and I have done nothing. So - I decided that I needed a little project. The area behind our garage was in need of a little help. We tried to grow some grass back there and it never grew very well. So- since we had the lovely topsoil - we decided to make another flower bed and plant some Hostas. We had hostas at our old house and we always had great luck with it.

So - I decied that I wanted to take ownership of this little project and while Brian was cutting the lawn last night - I shoveled dirt into the wheelbarrow and wheeled it over behind the garage and raked it and prepared it for the Hostas.

Now -looking back to yesterday when I was shoveling dirt - I realize that it probably wasn't the smartest thing to do while I am 4 months pregnant. However, I don't like to be considered one of those women that can't do things just because I have a baby in my belly. I want to be considered strong and able and capable. I don't want to be that pregnant person that makes excuses, "just because I am pregnant."

Well - now I realize why they tell pregnant women not to lift things, (or shovel dirt). Ha.

Halfway through my project, I felt kind of worn out. My belly started to hurt a little bit. And this morning by back hurt. I had to stop mid-way through. I just couldn't do it.

I surrendered.

Brian finished cutting the lawn. I looked at him and told him that I just couldn't do it anymore. That dirt was darn heavy. Brian said, "I told you not to shovel the dirt. Do you ever listen to me?" I looked at him and said, "No. I never listen to you because I thought I could do it."

Why is he always right?

So, Brian took over my project and he finished it with ease. He prepared all the dirt so it was ready for me to plant the hostas.

I was able to do the actual planting of the hostas and my project is done!
