Brian is very excited that his favorite team - the Steelers are playing today. If they win today, then they go to the Superbowl. This is cause for celebration.
However- I have cause to celebrate. The Superbowl signifies the end of football season. This makes me happy. I dislike football. It used to be a lot worse when Brian and I were dating. Every Sunday was an "Event." The boys would all gather together for "football Sunday" and I would either be totally bored while watching football or I would be stuck on my own for the day.
Now that we are married and have kids, "football Sunday" has toned down a lot. However, when the Steelers play - it becomes an "event" again.
A few years ago, the Steelers played in the Superbowl. Brian had claimed all season that if the Steelers played in the Superbowl, then he was going to throw an "outdoor" Superbowl party. Huh? I know. It sounds weird. An outdoor party in January??? Well - he was true to his word. He had an outdoor party on our deck at our old house. Somehow the TV ended up outside and a fire was lit and all the boys gathered on the deck in their warmest coats and watched 3+ hours of football. The girls came over too and we all gathered together inside. Warm and smart. We weren't going to venture out on the deck and freeze our tails off.
The boys seemed very content though. I heard no complaints of anybody freezing. They would wander inside once in a while to use the bathroom. But - then they ended up back on the deck in the freezing cold.
It must be a guy thing because I totally didn't get it.
If the Steelers win today - will there be another outdoor party at the Graber House? Stay tuned for details!
