Hunger Strike

Maddie is on a hunger strike. At least, that is what Brian and I call it. Every night it is the same thing. She sits at the table while we eat dinner and refuses to eat anything. I used to be able to bribe her with promises of a roll if she ate at least 3 bites of her dinner. Now, nothing is working. I have even tried bribing her with a donut. If she eats her dinner, she gets a donut. It was working for a while -but not so much, now.

There have been many nights when she goes to bed without eating anything. I am not sure what to do. If I was a mean mommy I would keep what she didn't eat the night before and make her eat it for breakfast. But - that seems a bit extreme.

I am not one of those people who cook multiple meals. She has always been a picky eater. So - I have been firm about the fact that she needs to eat what I cook. If she doesn't like it -then she doesn't eat. It is interesting to watch her. Food just doesn't seem like an important part of her life. Maybe she is just one of those kids that doesn't care about eating? Weird. Since - I LOVE food, I am not sure how a person can feel this way. I keep hoping she will grow out of it.
