Thumb

In case any of you are wondering if Maddie is still sucking her thumb, the answer is yes. Yes she is. Still. With gusto. She loves her thumb. I thought I might have had a breakthrough over the weekend. I painted her nails with pretty pink polish. She was very excited and proudly showed them off to anyone who would look.

I told her that if she wanted the nail polish to stay on her nails, then she had to stop sucking her thumb. Because the more sucking that she did, the more it would cause the nail polish to chip off. It looked like a light bulb went off in her head and she said, "Really, mommy?" She made a little bit of an effort throughout the day to stop sucking.

It didn't last long though. She is back to sucking and when I remind her about the nail polish, she just shrugs her shoulders. She did tell me that she was going to stop right after her birthday. Interesting. We shall see.
