It's been a crazy week. I was in Saratoga for most of the week for our District Fall meeting. It was very nice but also very busy!
Anyway - before I get to that part of the story - let me tell you about why I wanted to hug and kiss the AAA man.
It was Tuesday. I was driving to a meeting in Schenectady, and on the way there - I pulled into Lowes that was in the area so I could check out the pricing of tile.
I admit it. I wasn't paying attention and I took the turn too wide. My front tire ended up going off the pavement into a ditch. Okay. It wasn't really a ditch. But -rather just a really big dip from the pavement to the gravel. I knew right away something was wrong when I did it. I stopped the car, got out and evaluated the situation. From what I could see - there was no flat tire. Relieved, I got back in the car and continued on to Lowe's. I checked out the tile pricing and went back to the car and started driving to the meeting. I was almost to the meeting and that is when I noticed that one of the lights was lit up on the dashboard. It was an exclamation point. Oh dear. That can't be good. Then I noticed that the steering wheel was shaky. Oh jeez. That can't be good either.
I managed to pull into the parking lot where the meeting was, and I took out the owner's manual to find out what the "exclamation point" could mean. Turns out that it means that my tire pressure was low. Okay. So - I called Brian who in turn told me to call AAA. So I did. They were there within 10 minutes. I was totally impressed by their speed. What impressed me more was the AAA man. He took my tire off and examined it and it turns out that the rim was bent. UGH. But - the nice AAA man banged the rim back in and checked the tire to make sure there were no leaks or rips or tears. He put the tire back on and everything was fine! The light went off. The car drove normally and I wasn't out a few hundred bucks for a new rim and a new tire. I seriously wanted to kiss the AAA man. He was awesome!
I have had AAA for 9 years and I have never had to use it for a road emergency. I was so glad that I had it this week. Everyone should have it. Not to mention that you get the other perks - like maps, cheap movie tickets and hotel discounts.
Thank goodness for AAA!
