It's time to take back the run. You know. As in, reel it back in. I am all about running hard, running fast, and running far! My breathing seems to be a bit better. And I have had two great runs this week. I had a fast 3.1 miler on Monday which I ran in 29 minutes. That was faster than I have run in a VERY long time. Then I had a 4 miler tonight with Elisa which was a little bit slower - but still felt good.
Yes - it's all about running renewal over here. And part of that includes new running shoes! Yup. It was time to get some new duds. I have been happy with my Brooks. (These Brooks have run 2 half marathons with me - so I feel kind of partial to them.) That being said, I decided to stick with them. I found them online for about $20 cheaper than at Fleet Feet. I placed the order and I was very excited when they arrived from the UPS man.
I couldn't wait to try them out and my first run with them was on Monday. Unfortunately, the whole time I was running, I kept thinking that I felt like they were too small. My toe kept hitting the front of the shoe. When I finished my run and took off my shoes, I realized that I had ordered them a half size too small. How annoying is that? Luckily I was able to send them back since the place that I ordered them from has a 90 day return policy even if you wear them! Nice - huh?
Back they went, and now I am anxiously awaiting my new pair. For now, I guess my old Brooks will have to stick it out for another few runs.
Meanwhile, I am seriously considering registering for another 15K. The Stockadathon is in November and I think I would like to do it. For now, I am just trying to get back in the swing of things, get my breathing under control and enjoy the power of the run.

I'm glad you sent the shoes back. Running longer distances in too-small shoes will result in black toenails.
