Homemade chips

Today I decided that I wanted to try to make homemade sweet potato chips.

I found the recipe online and I figured - why not try to make some healthy chips?

After all, the chips at the store are so expensive and full of junk. So - I tried it out - and they were delicious!
First I started with a sweet potato.

Then I cut it up. I coated the slices in oil and various spices that included salt, pepper, cumin, paprika and garlic powder.

Then I baked them for 20 minutes at 400 degrees. I had to flip them over at the 10 minute mark.

And here is the result.

Aren't they beautiful? Nice and orange. And they crisp up as they cool on the wire rack. Brian came home from soccer as I was finishing them up and he loved them!

Now the true test will be if my kids will eat them! That would mean I am getting some veggies in them in a fun way!

Have a great Sunday!
