We all like peanut butter in this house. In fact, Maddie and I have it everyday for lunch. PB&J. Can't go wrong. It's yummy and fills us up! I didn't realize just how much my daughter loved peanut butter until this morning.
It all started yesterday - right before we left for the park. I was making our normal PB&J sandwiches to bring with us. I reached for the peanut butter and I noticed that it was in a different place in the cabinet and the top wasn't screwed on correctly. I was in a hurry and didn't give it much thought.
Then, this morning, Maddie came in our room around 6:30 and told me she was eating peanut butter. I thought this was kind of strange, but I was still half asleep, so I ignored it. We all finally got up and started getting ready for the Easter Egg Hunt. Brian was in the shower and I was getting dressed. Maddie appeared in our room and said, "Mommy, I am eating peanut butter." I kind of looked her very confused and said, "What?" Then it all clicked. She had the peanut butter somewhere in her room!
We walked into her room and I could immediately smell it. The Peter Pan aroma. (Yes - it smelled darn good.) I said, "Maddie, show me where you have the peanut butter." She pointed to her desk. I opened the top drawer and the peanut butter jar was sitting in the drawer with the top off. Inside the jar were lovely little "digs" that were from little fingers digging into the peanut butter. Needless to say, I thought it was funny. Of course, I couldn't let Maddie know that. So - I put on my best mad mommy face and told her that this was unacceptable and that we do NOT bring food in our room.
You can probably guess the rest. I suddenly noticed that her shirt was covered in peanut butter. Some of her blankets had peanut butter on it. And her quilt on her bed had peanut butter on it. She was snacking on Peanut butter in bed. I guess from now on, the Peanut Butter will be well hidden.
