The one where I talked about being the lucky one and not getting the horrific stomach bug that flew through our household?
Well - it decided to sneak up on me and get me on New Year's Eve.
The day started out fine. I took the kids to a New Year's Eve Celebration at the library. They did a cute thing around noontime for the kids. Then I went to lunch with a friend and her kids.
We got home. I put Aidan down for a nap and I went up to lay down. I was feeling really tired. Luckily, Maddie left me alone and let me nap. She was engaged in a cartoon. I probably fell asleep for 1 hour. I woke up and felt fine. About an hour after that, I started feeling nauseous. An hour later, I was throwing up. I threw up for 5 hours. It was horrible.
No New Year's eve party for us. Brian spent the night by himself watching a movie. I spent the night wondering if I would have to go to the hospital and get hydrated. Maddie spent the night very disappointed that she wasn't going to Grammy's for a sleepover. All-in-all- it was NOT a good way to ring in the new year. The only one who seemed happy was Aidan.
I spent much of New Year's day in bed. I ate a piece of toast. Today I woke up determined that I was going to feel better. I was planning on taking Maddie to ballet. But I just couldn't do it. Everytime I stood up, a wave of dizziness came over me. I went back to bed for 2 hours. By 2 PM this afternoon, I actually felt somewhat normal. I managed to eat some soup and now it is almost 8 PM and I feel pretty much back to normal.
Not a fun time for me. Here's hoping for a happier 2010.
